Golfing 4 Good

September 20, 2012

At JHE, the internal and external family is the essence of its success. In 2011, Golfing 4 Good was established to benefit members of the JHE family and local community who are dealing with adversity in their life.

Princess Diana said it best, “Family is the most important thing in the world”; while an unknown author stated, “The love of a family is life’s greatest blessing.”

The 2012 beneficiary of Golfing 4 Good is the father of JHE employee Kristin Thompson, John. In 2008, John survived a critical ATV accident leaving him with permanent brain damage, severely impaired motor skills and cognitive function. These injuries immobilized John permanently, making simple life activities a challenge while incurring a substantial financial burden and a home not designed to meet his current condition. Despite the support from his wife, Mary Anne, and his children, John needed a better-equipped and designed home to make wheelchair mobility efficient and safe.

Together, the JHE employees raised over $33,000 to benefit the Thompson family during the Golfing 4 Good tournament which had 19 participating teams, 18 hole sponsors, one green sponsor and one putting green sponsor. The Thompson family will use this money to make their home wheelchair accessible.

“It is one of the most beautiful compensations of life that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
